Biography
Kirkland “Kirk” B. Andrews is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Evergy, Inc., a regulated utility holding company.
Career
He was appointed to his current position in February 2021. Andrews leads Evergy’s corporate financial functions, including treasury, accounting, planning, tax, capital allocation and investor relations. In addition, he oversees the company’s performance management, corporate development and renewable energy development activities.
He previously served as a director of Evergy, Inc. and as a member of the company’s audit committee, power delivery and safety committee, and strategic review and operations committee. Prior to his current role, he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of NRG Energy, Inc., a Fortune 500 leader in integrated power. Before that, he served as a director for NRG Yield, a subsidiary of NRG, from 2012–2018 and as its executive vice president and chief financial officer until 2016, and he previously was chief financial officer of NRG subsidiary GenOn Energy, Inc.
Andrews joined NRG in 2011 after a successful 15-year career in investment banking, serving as managing director and co-head of investment banking for the Power & Utilities—Americas group at Deutsche Bank Securities. Before that, he served Citigroup Global Markets Inc. as managing director and head of its Power Mergers & Acquisitions group and subsequently group head of its North American Power Group. Over his banking career, Andrews led numerous large-scale strategic, debt, equity and commodities transactions.
Education
He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Wake Forest University and an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
