At age 11, Matt delivered the Buffalo News door to door in his hometown of East Aurora, N.Y. He has worked as a canoe guide in Northern Maine, a dining-hall manager, a mental-health therapy aide, an industrial laundry worker, a waiter, a soda jerk, a doughnut maker and a cake decorator.

Education

He holds a double-degree bachelor of science in business (human resources management) and bachelor of arts in psychology from the State University of New York at Oswego. He has a master of arts in liberal studies with a concentration in writing from Dartmouth.
