Korean American Day
On January 13th, we celebrate Korean American Heritage Month. We pay tribute to our friends and fellow citizens of Korean descent. These individuals are small business owners, military veterans, leaders, medical professionals, artists, and politicians. They have made significant contributions to our nation. They arrived in America many years ago, in 1903. The contributions of Korean Americans are significant. They possess a rich cultural heritage, and they work hard and persevere in their endeavors.

Brief history
In 1903, over 100 Koreans arrived in the US. Then, in just two years, another 7,500 followed. Since then, Koreans have made a big impact on American society. We celebrate their achievements on Korean American Day.
There's a lot to be proud of in Korean American history. Sammy Lee won two Olympic diving gold medals and served on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. David Hyun revitalized Little Tokyo in LA, and Hines Ward played for the Steelers. Korean food has also become popular bibimbap and kimchi are everywhere. K-Pop music is popular too.
In 2005, Congress recognized Korean American Day as an official holiday. It's celebrated on January 13th every year. That's when we can enjoy kimchi!
