Handwashing Day
We hope that you make handwashing a daily habit, but on October 15, we encourage you to reflect on this practice even more, as it is Global Handwashing Day. Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, handwashing and its significance in preventing the transmission of diseases were not a topic of much consideration for most of us. However, the global pandemic has brought this issue to the forefront, making this day even more significant, despite its existence since 2008.
About the holiday
Brief History
This day started in 2008. It is a day to wash your hands. Clean hands save lives. On this day, over 120 million kids from more than 70 countries washed their hands. They did it with soap. Every year, on October 15, we celebrate this day. We wash our hands to be healthy. We need to wash our hands before we eat and after we use the toilet. This is to keep us from getting sick. There are many ways to spread germs. But if we wash our hands, we can stop them. The Global Handwashing Partnership has a website. You can find more information there.
