Brief History

The National Techies Day was made by CNT Networks and techies.com in 1999. CNT is a company that makes things for computers. techies.com was a website for people who wanted a job in technology. The day was made to tell people about different jobs in technology. Technology is from the words technē (art) and logos (words). In the beginning, technology meant art. It was not until the 20th century that it meant science.
People have been using science for more than 3 million years. They used things like knives and fire. Then they had things like water pipes and trains. Scientists and historians use technology to measure how good a society is. Gerhard Lenski says that how information moves through a society shows how good it is. We need to make our society better so we need to encourage young people to go into technology.
