Techies Day
The National Techies Day, which falls on October 3rd, is a day to celebrate and highlight the numerous opportunities available for young people in the field of technology. If the 21st century could be summed up in a single word, it would be technology. We have barely reached the halfway point of the century, yet we have already transitioned from bulky and heavy computers to sleek and lightweight laptops. There are printers that can print three-dimensional materials, some of which have been used to create sustainable and environmentally friendly structures and objects. Experts have predicted that in the coming years, there will be job opportunities that do not exist today.
About the holiday
Brief History
The National Techies Day was made by CNT Networks and techies.com in 1999. CNT is a company that makes things for computers. techies.com was a website for people who wanted a job in technology. The day was made to tell people about different jobs in technology. Technology is from the words technē (art) and logos (words). In the beginning, technology meant art. It was not until the 20th century that it meant science.
People have been using science for more than 3 million years. They used things like knives and fire. Then they had things like water pipes and trains. Scientists and historians use technology to measure how good a society is. Gerhard Lenski says that how information moves through a society shows how good it is. We need to make our society better so we need to encourage young people to go into technology.
How to celebrate
There are various ways to commemorate National Techies Day. Many choose to give gifts, organize parties, or attend local events dedicated to this day. Decorating with tech-related items, writing notes or cards, and hosting gatherings are popular ways to show appreciation for techies.
