The stock market closed on the plus side
The US stock market concluded trading on Friday with growth due to the strengthening of the oil and gas, commodities and industry sectors.
At closing time on the New York Stock Exchange, Dow Jones rose 0.64% to a historic high, the S&P 500 Index rose 0.69%, and the NASDAQ Composite Index rose 0.54%.
The growth leaders among the Dow Jones index components were Caterpillar Inc. shares, which rose by 8.81 p. (5.04%). Chevron Corp quotations increased by 2.98 p. (3.32%). Papers of International Business Machines increased in price by 3.48 p. (2.82%).
Boeing shares, whose price fell by 4.70 p. (1.98%). The shares of Home Depot Inc. rose by 4.58 pp (1.71%) and Apple Inc. dropped by 0.90 pp (0.73%).
The growth leaders among the S&P 500 Index components at the end of today's trading were Occidental Petroleum Corporation shares, which rose by 12.39 per cent, Diamondback Energy Inc, which gained 11.12 per cent and Apache Corporation shares, which rose by 9.97 per cent.
Ulta Beauty shares, which fell in price by 3.64%. Shares of Sempra Energy lost 3.36%. Dominion Energy Inc. shares decreased in price by 2.86%.
The growth leaders among the NASDAQ Composite Index components were Fangdd Network Group shares, which rose 44.90% and Top Ships Inc, which rose 37.82%.
The decline was led by Ever-Glory International Group Inc, which fell 27.43% in price. Kaixin Auto Holdings shares lost 24.54%. Quotations of Lizhi Inc. decreased in price by 23.59%.
On the NYSE, the number of shares that went up in price (2268) exceeded the number of shares that closed in minus (672) and the quotation of 105 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ, 2097 securities rose in price, 817 declined and 78 remained at the level of the previous closing.
Caterpillar Inc. shares rose to a historic high, rising by 5.04%, 8.81 pp.
Gold futures with delivery in February lost 0.06%, reaching $1,840.05 per troy ounce. Brent oil futures with delivery in February rose by 0.62%.
Meanwhile, in the Forex market, the EUR/USD pair fell 0.03% to 1.2136, while USD/JPY rose 0.27%.
Futures on the USD index fell by 0.01% to 90.713.
