Friday trading result
The US stock market ended Friday's trading mixed, with the consumer goods, telecoms and utilities sectors strengthening.
At the close of trading on the New York Stock Exchange the Dow Jones gained 0.39%, the S&P 500 index was down 0.28% and the Nasdaq Composite index was down 0.58%.
Merck and Company (NYSE: MRK) gained 2.83% to close at 109.52. UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) gained 2.41% to close at 499.08.
Applied Molecular Genetics (Amgen) (Nasdaq: AMGN) gained 6.31p, up 2.69%, ending trading at 240.53.
Chevron (NYSE: CVX)shares fell 3.72 points, down 2.23%, ending the session at 162.85.
Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) shares gained 0.59 points, or 2.09%, to close at 27.61, while Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) dropped 2.94 points, or 1.75%, to close at 165.17.
Deere and Company (NYSE: DE) shares gained 7.53% to 433.31, while Organon and Co. (NYSE: OGN) gained 4.60% to end the session at 26.02.
Albemarle Corporation (NYSE: ALB) shares were down 9.67% to close at 258.00. Hess Corporation (NYSE: HES) shares lost 5.73% to close the session at 135.52.
Shares of Pathfinder Acquisition (Nasdaq: MVLA), which gained 46.56% to close at 4.69, and Apexigen Inc (Nasdaq: APGN), which gained 44.21% to end the session at 1.37.
Shares of Universal Electronics (Nasdaq: UEIC) lost 33.01% to end the session at 16.38.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which is derived from options trading on the S&P 500, fell 0.74% to 20.02.
Gold futures for April delivery added 0.00%, or 0.05, to reach $1.00 per troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude futures prices for March delivery fell 2.75%, or 2.16, to $76.33 a barrel.
Brent crude futures for April delivery weakened 2.55%, or 2.17 to $82.97 per barrel.
