Historic record
The cost of gasoline at gas stations in the United States has once again hit an all-time high, reaching $4.593 per gallon (3.785 litres). This is evidenced by data released on Friday by the non-profit American Automobile Association, which tracks rates at more than 60,000 gas stations in the country.
According to its data, the average cost per gallon of Regular gasoline rose to $4,593 in the U.S. by Friday morning. It is worth noting that on Thursday the figure was $4,589.
Earlier, GlobalNY.biz wrote that petrol prices in the US rise above $4.5 a gallon.
However, the highest gasoline prices across the country traditionally remain in California, where motorists will have to pay an average of $6.064 per gallon.
The steady rise in US petrol prices began at the end of the winter and has been rising steadily for a second week in a row, continuously hitting record highs.
The rise in the price of fuel is occurring against the background of rising global oil prices, despite attempts by the White House to resist this trend. At the same time, a year ago the price of petrol was kept at $3 per gallon.
The price of futures on WTI oil with delivery in July increased by $0.37 (0.33%) up to $112.58 per barrel on Friday.
