Oscar 2022
Three actresses, known primarily for their comic roles, are preparing to host this year's Academy Awards: Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes. It was revealed in an exclusive feature on Monday night by Variety magazine.
The names of those who will host this year's Oscars are officially due to be announced on Tuesday's broadcast of Good Morning America. According to Variety, the choice of an all-female team with extensive stand-up experience and comedy roles in the portfolio is designed to bring audiences back to the ceremony and boost viewership.
According to the publication, which cites a number of sources, other three-part show scenarios were initially being considered, with each hour-long segment hosted by a new pair of hosts.
Variety's sources also noted that actor Jonathan Hamm, known for his role as Donald Draper on Mad Men, could be one of the hosts of the ceremony, but he ended negotiations with the organisers for an undisclosed reason.
This year's ceremony will be notable not only for the line-up of presenters: viewers will be allowed to participate in choosing what they deem to be the best film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twitter users will be able to vote for their favorite movies released in 2021, regardless of whether the film has been nominated for an Oscar or not, using the hashtag #OscarsFanFavorite starting this Monday. The film with the most fan votes by 3 March will be honoured during the awards broadcast on 27 March.
The 94th edition of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts Awards will take place on March 27. This time it will take place at the traditional Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
