Neighborhoods app
Social network Facebook has launched Neighborhoods, an app designed to bring neighbours together, in test mode in the United States. The information was posted on the official website of the online community on Wednesday.
According to the official website of the online community, the application is a separate social network, where the main will be the geographical location of users. But what is important is that only adults can have an account on the new platform. It reports the need to confirm belonging to a "local community", while there is an option to join groups in nearby areas.
However, the creators have opened up the possibility to add information about themselves, participate in discussions, create open and closed communities of interest, and send neighbours to a "blacklist". Meanwhile, the corporation of the same name that owns the social network has said it intends to use detailed data about the location of group members to showcase more relevant advertising.
"The information in Neighborhoods can be used to personalise the use of Facebook products, including advertising", the company explained.
It's worth noting that the app is currently available in Canada.
