New electric vehicle from General Motors
The Hummer EV 2024 SUV was unveiled on Saturday. Unlike the Hummer EV Edition 1 pick-up, which will begin delivery in autumn 2021, the SUV will be less powerful and more expensive, with deliveries starting in 2023, reservation services have started.
The new Hummer EV 2024 SUV from General Motors (GM) was unveiled on Saturday during the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament with NBA star LeBron James.
Starting with standard equipment, the Hummer SUV includes:
- 4-wheel steering that allows the vehicle to drive diagonally CrabWalk technology;
- adaptive air suspension to raise the car by more than 15cm to pass obstacles Extract Mode;
- seventeen camera views, including underbody cameras and washer functions for good visibility in all conditions;
- the Super Cruise autopilot system.
The electric off-road GM with lithium-ion battery Ultium has up to 830 horsepower, which is lower than the 1,000 in the Hummer EV pickup, and acceleration to 100 km/h is half a second slower. However, the price for the standard Hummer EV SUV is also lower: $110,595 versus $112,595 for the pickup.
The first year of delivery of the Hummer EV Edition 1 pickup (deliveries will start this fall) has already been booked.
The first Hummer EV SUVs will go on sale in 2023. GM has said it will start producing the highest-priced models in early 2023, with cheaper versions coming in spring 2024, with base-equipped models starting at $80k.
These are GM's first all-electric next-generation SUVs, production of which is being funded as part of the company's $27bn plan to switch to electric and autonomous vehicles by 2025.
Last week, General Motors released its supply report for the first quarter of 2021. Despite temporary production stoppages and the COVID-19 pandemic, the company managed to deliver 3.9% more cars than for the same period in 2020, but the figure came in below expectations: 642,250 cars versus 645,516 according to market experts' estimates.
GM's first-quarter sales were up among all brands except Chevy. Bolt EV sales rose 54% to 9,025 on the back of the refresh.
General Motors shares are up 200% in the past 12 months and 38.8% since the start of 2021.
