In recent years, the shares of famous companies are rising, and the owners of these companies are getting richer, respectively.
The fortune of Elon Musk, head of Tesla and SpaceX, rose by $11.5 billion over the week amid a rise in the companies' shares, Forbes magazine wrote. Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) shares gained 7.4% over the week.
Google (NASDAQ: GOOGL) founders Sergey Brin and Lawrence Page made $10.4 billion and $10 billion, respectively, after shares of Alphabet, Google's parent company, rose more than 14% this week.
The fortune of Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos, the richest man on the planet, increased by $7.7bn over the week, with Amazon shares rising 4.6%. Earlier, Jeff Bezos, who has led the company for 26 years, announced his retirement as CEO. This will happen in the third quarter of 2021. Andrew Jassy, now head of Amazon Web Services, will take his place.
The founder of Chinese platform Pinduoduo (NASDAQ: PDD), Colin Huang, has this week made $10.7bn richer after Pinduoduo's stock rose more than 18%.
However, in mid-January Forbes reported that Affirm (NASDAQ: AFRM) doubled its share price, adding another billionaire to the world, with co-founder Max Levchin's fortune jumping by more than $2.5 billion.
