Farewell to Catfish
Kamie Crawford is bidding farewell to Catfish after six memorable years on the MTV docuseries, where she helped expose online deceptions. The 31-year-old host took to Instagram on October 3 to announce her departure, sharing her gratitude for the experience and reflecting on the impact it had on her life and career.
“After six years of living my absolute dream working on Catfish... it is with a heavy heart and much consideration that I have decided to move on to my next adventure,” Kamie wrote in her heartfelt post. She expressed appreciation for her co-host Nev Schulman, the production team at Critical Content, and MTV for giving her the opportunity to be part of one of television’s most iconic shows.
Kamie first joined Catfish in 2018 after original co-host Max Joseph left. Alongside Nev, she helped people across the country navigate the tricky world of online relationships, uncovering whether their partners were real or merely catfishing them. For Kamie, the journey was both professionally fulfilling and personally enriching.
“When I got an email in 2018 from an absolute stranger at Catfish’s production department... I never would’ve imagined the life, love, memories, and worldwide support it would bring me,” Kamie reflected. She shared how special it was to travel the country, meet viewers, and help people find real connections, even through the complications of online relationships.
Though leaving Catfish is bittersweet, Kamie is excited for the future. In her post, she mentioned that she has "so many new dreams" and is looking forward to the next chapter of her career. She also expressed gratitude for the support she’s received from fans, noting how much their love and acceptance meant to her during her time on the show.
Kamie's departure comes as Catfish is on hiatus while Nev recovers from a neck injury sustained in a biking accident. "I wish him a speedy recovery. I know that that is no joke," Kamie said in a recent interview, expressing her hopes that the show will return once Nev is back in good health.
While Kamie’s next steps remain a mystery, her farewell to Catfish marks the end of a meaningful era for the show and its viewers. Her legacy, however, is clear — she has left an indelible mark on the series, brightening the lives of those she encountered. As she moves forward, Kamie leaves fans hopeful and excited for what’s to come.
