SNL’s Flashback Frenzy
As SNL prepares to kick off its milestone 50th season, the show has released a humorous promotional video featuring host Smart. This fun promo captures the essence of the series with nostalgic clips that playfully interrupt her introduction, setting the tone for a season filled with memorable moments and star-studded guests. With an exciting lineup of hosts and musical acts, this season promises to celebrate SNL’s rich legacy while introducing fresh talent to the cast.
The promotional video opens with Smart enthusiastically introducing the momentous occasion, saying, "50 years of hosts, 50 years of laughs, 50 years of memories." However, her speech is humorously interrupted by a series of classic SNL moments, with each flashback cutting her off more abruptly. As the montage continues, Smart's speech becomes increasingly fragmented, leading her to joke, "Are you really going to show a clip from every season just to cut me off?"
As the humorous interruptions continue, Smart playfully asks, "Can we make this a little more about me?" but the iconic SNL clips keep rolling, highlighting the rich history of the show.
Smart's much-anticipated hosting debut will be accompanied by musical guest Jelly Roll, kicking off what promises to be an exciting season. Following her episode, on October 5, comedian Nate Bargatze will return for his second appearance as host, joined by Coldplay as the musical guest. The rest of the October lineup is equally star-studded, featuring performances by Ariana Grande and Stevie Nicks, with Michael Keaton and Billie Eilish set to appear later in the month. Early November will also see John Mulaney return to host, with musical guest Chappell Roan.
In addition to its regular programming, SNL will celebrate its impressive 50-year legacy with a special primetime event in February 2025, honoring its remarkable run on television. The new season will also introduce three fresh faces — Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline — who will join the cast as featured players. Additionally, returning cast members Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker have been promoted to the main cast, marking a new era for the beloved show.
SNL’s upcoming season is shaping up to be a celebration of its rich history while showcasing new talent and exciting performances.
