New York establishments to begin testing customers for COVID-19 before allowing them in.
City Winery, a lavish winery-style eatery and a scene for live performances, states to become the first US establishment to test each guest beginning on Tuesday. According to the restaurant, an expert is going to test all staff members with a shallow nasal swab, providing a prompt result.
The downside? Customers are to pay $50 for the test.
City Winery admits the price to be somewhat steep in view of recession. However, the CEO Michael Dorf plans to first provide a new safe way of dining indoors, which ultimately will ensure the business continuity.
Dorf is sure the local authorities and insurance companies will eventually provide prompt testing free of charge, while the world awaits the vaccine.
