Gilmore Girls Reunion
Recently, an Instagram post by Lauren Graham brought a wave of nostalgia for fans of the beloved series, Gilmore Girls. The post featured a heartwarming snapshot of Graham and Kelly Bishop, the actress who played Emily Gilmore in the popular WB teen drama, enjoying a casual outing. The caption, a toast to their friendship, read, “Here’s to the ladies who lunch.”
The photo showcased the pair in chic attire, with Graham, now 57, sporting a trendy bucket hat and oversized sunglasses. Bishop, known for her role in Dirty Dancing, exuded her characteristic elegance in a black jacket, complemented by hoop earrings and a silver necklace.
The post sparked a flurry of excitement among fans. One admirer succinctly commented, “Icons,” while another fan expressed a longing for more of the show, pleading, “Bring back Gilmore Girls! Not just a reboot, get it back on full time!”
The series also followed the romantic journey of Alexis Bledel’s character, Rory, the youngest Gilmore girl. Her love life, set in the quaint town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, involved Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki), Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia), and Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry).
During a promotional event for her second memoir, “Have I Told You This Already?: Stories I Don’t Want to Forget to Remember,” Graham reflected on her bond with Bishop. She said, “Kelly Bishop is another example of the gift of having friends who are not your peers. I have a friend, she’s 80 years old. We go to lunch, we talk about the same things. There’s no difference.” This quote encapsulates the timeless nature of their friendship.
Bishop is also set to release her memoir, “The Third Gilmore Girl,” in September, further enriching the lore of the series.
The ensemble cast, including Sean Gunn, Melissa McCarthy, Scott Patterson, Liza Weil, Keiko Agena, Yanic Truesdale, and the late Edward Herrmann, all played pivotal roles in bringing the magic of Gilmore Girls to life.
Melissa McCarthy, who portrayed Sookie St. James, Lorelai’s best friend, shared amusing anecdotes from her time filming the series. Despite the sweltering 112-degree heat in Burbank, California, she humorously recalled being bundled up in coats to depict Connecticut’s chilly weather. She even joked about her profuse sweating, wondering if it was a symptom of Malaria.
