Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and husband to Serena Williams, recently expressed his newfound appreciation for the “magic” and “purity” of tennis on his podcast, “Business Dad.” This revelation came after dating Serena, the former World No.1 tennis player. Their relationship began in 2015, leading to their marriage in 2017 in a beautiful ceremony in New Orleans. They are proud parents of two daughters: Olympia, born in September 2017, and Adira River Ohanian, born in August 2023.
In his podcast, Alexis, a successful entrepreneur and father, explores the topic of maintaining a healthy work-life balance with other accomplished dads. One of his recent guests was Shane Battier, a former American basketball power forward. During their conversation, Alexis shared that before dating Serena, he had never watched tennis and believed that the only sport that mattered was the National Football League (NFL). However, his perspective changed once he started watching tennis, which he now describes as the most “pure” sport.
Alexis took to social media to share a snippet of his discussion with Shane about tennis being one of the best sports. He clarified that his opinion on tennis’ purity is not influenced by his relationship with Serena, whom he affectionately referred to as the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time).
Last year, Alexis, a vocal advocate for women’s sports, discussed the lack of investment in women’s sports. He attributed the underfunding to low expectations and predicted that future generations would view this era as a time of sexism, racism, and significant business incompetence that hindered the growth of women’s sports.
Demonstrating his commitment to advancing women’s sports, Alexis invested $100 million in Angel City FC, a startup soccer club that joined the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in 2022. Apart from Alexis, Angel City FC has attracted celebrity investors like Serena Williams, Natalie Portman, Andrew East, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Chastain, and Julie Foudy among others.
