Netflix's Savage Roast
No one was spared during Netflix's "GROAT: The Greatest Roast Of All Time: Tom Brady," where insults flew freely and everyone walked away with a few burns.
The roast centered around former NFL quarterback Tom Brady, with celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Ben Affleck becoming prime targets for mockery.
Early in the show, host Kevin Hart directed a jest at Kardashian, but the tables turned when she took the podium to roast Brady herself. Her appearance, however, was met with a mix of cheers and boos, escalating into a deafening reception that caught Kardashian off-guard.
"Alright, alright," she managed before Hart intervened to calm the audience. The awkward moment later went viral but was edited out by Netflix in post-production, according to Robbie Praw, the vice president of stand-up and comedy at Netflix, who explained the decision in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Later in the evening, Brady himself aimed a pointed joke at Kardashian, referring humorously to her ex-husband Kanye "Ye" West.
Affleck, touted as one of the A-list guests, also found himself in the spotlight. His defense of Brady against online trolls was perceived as "unhinged" and "out of touch."
Brady, not missing a beat, playfully jabbed back at Affleck during his turn at the podium.
During the event, the atmosphere was filled with humor targeting Brady's former spouse, Gisele Bündchen. Comedians such as Nikki Glaser and Kevin Hart entertained the audience with witty remarks about her and her connection with her jiu-jitsu instructor partner, Joaquim Valente.
Reports surfaced afterward that Brady's children, particularly those shared with Bündchen, were affected by the special. Bündchen herself was reportedly "deeply disappointed" with the portrayal of her family.
Will Ferrell made an unexpected appearance as Ron Burgundy from "Anchorman," which drew mixed reactions on social media.
Overall, the roast left a lasting impact, both for its sharp wit and its ripple effects on those involved.
