Jazz, Faith, and Billboard Records
Renowned Billboard Chart Topping Jazz keyboardist, Kayla Waters, recently released her highly anticipated album "Presence" under the Shanachie Entertainment label. The album's evocative title, previously known as "Abundance," captures the essence of the ocean and its elements, alluding to her deep connection with God.
Background
Kayla Waters, a classically trained pianist, was raised in a musical household as the daughter of Jazz icon saxophonist Kim Waters (known for collaborations with artists such as Regina Belle and Maysa). Recognizing her passion for music, her parents initiated her piano lessons at the tender age of six. Over the years, Kayla honed her skills, sharing the stage with her father and establishing her unique style, often described as Urban Smooth Jazz.
Transition to Shanachie Entertainment
Kayla Waters has recently switched record labels, coinciding with the release of her third album. She is grateful to her father for his influence in the industry, which led to her signing with Shanachie Entertainment. This collaboration marks a major milestone in her career, especially since her last album was released in 2018 after a five-year gap.
Collaborative Efforts
Throughout her career, Kayla Waters has achieved remarkable success, boasting four #1 hits on the Billboard charts. She acknowledges her father's invaluable support and involvement in her music, both as a featured artist on her new album and as a guiding force. The production of "Presence" also benefited from the expertise of Grammy-nominated Chris "Big Dog" Davis, renowned Jazz keyboardist based in Connecticut. Kayla traveled there to work with Davis, bringing her unique piano ideas to the table.
