Andrew Thomas Callaghan is an American journalist and YouTube personality. He is the creator and host of the YouTube series Channel 5 and All Gas No Brakes.
Callaghan first rose to prominence with All Gas No Brakes, a web series launched in 2019 that featured on-the-ground reporting and unscripted interviews with everyday people at festivals, political rallies, and niche subcultures. The show quickly built a large online following for its raw, documentary-style approach and Callaghan’s calm, observant interviewing style.
After parting ways with the original production company behind All Gas No Brakes, Callaghan launched Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan in 2021. The independent YouTube series continued his signature format of immersive field reporting, often exploring politically charged events, internet culture, and fringe communities. The channel rapidly gained millions of subscribers and cemented Callaghan’s reputation as a new voice in digital journalism.
In addition to his online work, Callaghan has expanded into documentary filmmaking. In 2022, he released the HBO documentary This Place Rules, which examined political extremism and the events surrounding the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The film further established him as a prominent figure in modern independent journalism.
Callaghan’s reporting style blends satire, observational journalism, and long-form interviews, allowing subjects to speak freely while capturing the broader social dynamics of contemporary American culture.
