Christopher Nash Elliott is an American actor, comedian, and writer known for his offbeat, surreal sense of humor and distinctive screen presence. He first gained national recognition as a writer and on-air performer on Late Night with David Letterman, where he worked from 1983 to 1988 and earned four consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for his writing.
Elliott went on to create and star in the cult-favorite Fox comedy Get a Life (1990–1992), cementing his reputation for absurdist comedy. He later wrote and starred in the film Cabin Boy (1994), which became a cult classic despite mixed initial reception.
His television career includes notable recurring roles on Everybody Loves Raymond (2003–2005) and How I Met Your Mother (2005–2014), as well as starring roles in Adult Swim’s Eagleheart (2011–2014). From 2015 to 2020, Elliott reached a new generation of viewers as Roland Schitt on Schitt’s Creek, a performance that became one of the series’ defining comedic elements.
