Liam Hemsworth is an Australian actor. He played the roles of Josh Taylor in the soap opera Neighbours and Marcus in the children's television series The Elephant Princess. In American films, Hemsworth starred as Will Blakelee in The Last Song (2010), as Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games film series (2012–2015), and as Jake Morrison in Independence Day: Resurgence (2016).

Career

Hemsworth’s breakout came in 2010 when he starred opposite Miley Cyrus as Will Blakelee in The Last Song, an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’s novel that marked his first leading role in a major film. That performance won him a Teen Choice Award for Breakout Male and helped elevate his profile in Hollywood.

In 2012, Hemsworth landed what would become his most prominent role: Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games franchise. The blockbuster series, based on Suzanne Collins’s best‑selling novels and led by Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, solidified his status as a leading man and brought international fame. He reprised Gale in Catching Fire and both parts of Mockingjay through 2015.

Beyond The Hunger Games, he has showcased versatility across genres. He appeared in the ensemble action sequel The Expendables 2 (2012), the war drama Love and Honor (2013), the thrillers Paranoia and Empire State (2013), and played a fighter pilot in Independence Day: Resurgence (2016).
