Vought’s Dark Origin Story

Jensen Ackles will return to The Boys franchise in Vought Rising, a new Prime Video prequel focused on Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront, who appears in the earlier era as Clara Vought.

The project was unveiled in July 2024 and shifts the action back to the 1950s. The series will look at Vought International before it became the corporate force viewers know from The Boys, tracing the company’s early power, the spread of Compound V and the foundations of its superhero empire. Eric Kripke is back as executive producer, while Paul Grellong is attached as showrunner and executive producer.

Ackles confirmed his return on Instagram, telling fans he was “ready to pick up the shield and get back to business.”

Filming on the first season ended in March 2026. Prime Video later released a teaser in May 2026, confirming that the show is planned for a 2027 debut. A specific premiere date has not been revealed.

The prequel is expected to combine a period setting with murder mystery elements and the franchise’s familiar satirical take on superheroes. It will also give more space to Soldier Boy’s earlier story and Stormfront’s role before her later identity became known.

Season 5 of The Boys appeared to plant seeds for the spinoff through the Fort Harmony plot. In that storyline, Soldier Boy found Quinn, a supe trapped inside a wall after a failed V-One experiment. Quinn’s spores caused people to become violent, and Soldier Boy eventually killed him, raising questions about their past connection.

The cast also features Mason Dye, Will Hochman, KiKi Layne, Jordan Myrie, Nicolo Pasetti, Elizabeth Posey, Brian J. Smith and Ricky Staffieri. Cecily Strong, Mark Pellegrino, Eric Johnson and Annie Shapero are set for recurring roles.
