Paris, Janet Missing
Paris Jackson and Janet Jackson were absent as the Jackson family gathered in Los Angeles on Monday, April 20, for the premiere of Michael, the new Michael Jackson biopic.
Jermaine Jackson, La Toya Jackson, Marlon Jackson and Jackie Jackson attended, along with Paris’ brother Prince, 29. Bigi, 24, did not appear to be there, though he attended the film’s Berlin premiere earlier this month.
Opening Friday, April 24, Michael follows the early career of Michael Jackson, who died in 2009 at age 50. He is played by his nephew Jaafar Jackson, 29, Jermaine’s son. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan for producer Graham King, the film has been positioned as a major screen portrait of the King of Pop.
Paris Jackson, 28, made clear in September 2025 that she had stepped away from Michael after Colman Domingo, who portrays Joe Jackson, was reported to have suggested she helped him shape the role. Addressing the claim on Instagram Story, Paris said, “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my thoughts on what was dishonest/didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life.”
Paris later described the film as “sugarcoated” and said she had no further involvement. Janet, 59, has not commented publicly, and Variety reported earlier this month that she is not portrayed in the movie.
Last month, Page Six reported that Janet clashed with relatives after Jermaine screened the film for the family. The outlet said Jermaine viewed the biopic as a chance to present the Jackson family positively after the allegations Michael faced during his life and after his death, which he denied and his family has continued to dispute.
Austin Brown and Janet’s longtime creative director, Gil Dudulao, later denied the feud reports.
