First Child for Lafferty
James Lafferty and Alexandra Park have entered a new chapter, welcoming their first child together. The couple shared the news on Instagram on Friday, April 17, revealing the arrival of their son, River Jay Lafferty.
“Love has new meaning. River Jay Lafferty – 12/4/2025,” the pair wrote alongside a black-and-white image showing their newborn’s hands clasped with theirs.
Lafferty and Park’s relationship traces back to 2015, when they first met on the set of the E! drama The Royals, where Park starred as Princess Eleanor. Lafferty directed an episode during the show’s second season, marking the beginning of both a personal and professional partnership.
Their connection extended beyond that initial collaboration. The duo later co-created and starred in the indie comedy series Everyone Is Doing Great, portraying a married couple navigating the complexities of life and career — an on-screen dynamic that mirrored their real-life bond.
The couple married in May 2022 in Oahu, Hawaii, in a ceremony attended by close friends and industry peers, including One Tree Hill alum Stephen Colletti and Park’s former The Royals co-stars Tom Austen and Merritt Patterson.
Lafferty first rose to prominence for his role as Nathan Scott on One Tree Hill, a long-running teen drama created by Mark Schwahn, which became a defining series of its era and helped launch the careers of several young stars. Park, meanwhile, gained recognition through her performance on The Royals, a series developed by Mark Schwahn, further linking the couple through overlapping creative circles.
In recent years, Lafferty and Park have been open about the realities of balancing marriage and creative collaboration, often describing their shared work as a cornerstone of their relationship. Their joint projects have positioned them as a notable creative partnership within the television landscape.
The arrival of their son marks a significant milestone for the couple, who have spent nearly a decade building both a life and a career together.
