Bravo Star’s Heartbreak
Cynthia Bailey is speaking out after a devastating loss rocked the Bravo universe. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star addressed the death of Robert Cosby Jr., the 23-year-old son of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member Mary Cosby, sharing her reaction as the reality TV community mourns the tragedy.
Speaking on the March 2 episode of her “Humble Brag” podcast, Bailey said she was stunned when she learned of the news and immediately called Mary. She explained that texting didn’t feel appropriate given the circumstances and was surprised when Mary answered. Bailey said she simply wanted to express her love and support during an unimaginable moment.
Us Weekly confirmed on February 25 that Robert Jr. died at age 23. The Salt Lake City Police Department stated authorities responded to an overdose call at the home Mary shares with her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., early last week, where Robert Jr. was found deceased.
In a statement to Us Weekly, Mary said, “Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord,” adding that the family is leaning on faith and appreciates the prayers offered during their time of grief.
Bailey and Mary became closer while filming The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, part of the franchise overseen by Andy Cohen. During production, Bailey recalled asking about Robert Jr., who had faced legal troubles last year related to a protective order filed by his ex-wife. He announced his release from jail on Instagram on February 6.
Robert Jr.’s struggles with addiction were documented over the past two seasons of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. In a Season 5 episode that aired in November 2024, he openly discussed substance abuse with his mother on camera — a storyline that drew praise for its honesty.
Bailey emphasized how difficult yet meaningful it was for Mary to share that reality publicly, noting that the loss has deeply affected the broader Bravo family.
