Snooki Shares Cancer Diagnosis
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is rallying around Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi as she begins treatment following a stage I cervical cancer diagnosis.
On Sunday, February 22, Sorrentino, 43, shared a throwback photo of the pair via X, offering public support for his longtime Jersey Shore castmate. “Sending prayers full of love, promotion and healing to our girl @snooki,” he wrote, as fans of the MTV franchise echoed similar messages across social media.
Polizzi, 38, revealed on Friday, February 20, via TikTok that she had been diagnosed after a recent biopsy. The reality star explained that years of abnormal Pap smear results led to further testing, ultimately catching the cancer at an early stage. She underwent a colposcopy followed by a cone biopsy, which confirmed that the margins were clear and the disease had not spread beyond the cervix.
Doctors have scheduled a PET scan to determine whether the cancer has spread elsewhere. Depending on the results, Polizzi said she is leaning toward a hysterectomy, as advised by her oncologist, instead of chemotherapy or radiation. She hopes to keep her ovaries but may also need lymph nodes removed if necessary.
Despite the setback, Polizzi maintained a measured outlook, telling followers, “Could be very much worse.” She urged women to stay up to date on annual Pap smears, emphasizing that early detection made a critical difference in her case.
Polizzi shares three children — Lorenzo, Giovanna and Angelo — with husband Jionni LaValle, and promised to remain open with fans as she navigates treatment. She later posted a TikTok video forming a heart with her hands in appreciation of the support she has received.
Since its 2009 debut under creator SallyAnn Salsano, Jersey Shore has chronicled the cast’s evolution from party-house roommates to parents and entrepreneurs. Now, as Polizzi faces a deeply personal health battle, her transparency is resonating far beyond the show’s original seaside setting.
