Hollywood Rallies for Dane
After Eric Dane’s death from ALS, support poured in from the entertainment community. Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and his wife, Ashley Lent Levinson, appear to have donated $27,000 to a GoFundMe established for his family.
Launched February 20 to benefit his daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14, whom he shared with Rebecca Gayheart, the campaign had raised more than $117,000 of its $250,000 goal by Friday evening, one day after his passing on February 19.
Dane, widely recognized for his long-running role on Grey’s Anatomy and, more recently, for portraying Cal Jacobs father to Jacob Elordi’s character on HBO’s Euphoria, publicly revealed in April 2025 that he had been diagnosed with ALS. The disclosure came just before production began on the series’ final episodes. Despite the progression of the disease, he continued working, earning admiration from colleagues across the industry.
The GoFundMe page describes both his devotion to his family and his advocacy following his diagnosis. As the campaign notes, “It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of Eric Dane after a hard-fought battle with ALS, leaving behind his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”
Beyond his acting career, friends emphasized that Dane used his platform to raise awareness for the ALS community after going public with his illness. As his condition advanced more rapidly than expected, those close to him organized the fundraiser to help provide long-term stability for his daughters.
Tributes poured in after his death, with Sam Levinson honoring his friend and collaborator, while Sydney Sweeney, Barbie Ferreira and HBO shared condolences.
Dane was best known for playing Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy and later starring on Euphoria alongside Jacob Elordi and Zendaya. Even in his final months, he continued working and advocating for ALS awareness.
As donations rise, the fundraiser highlights his lasting impact on and off screen.
