Wedding Speech Sparks Rift
Adam Peaty’s wedding to Holly Ramsay was intended to be a celebration of new beginnings, but it has instead reignited tensions surrounding the swimmer’s estranged family relationships.
The Olympic champion, 31, married Holly, 25, in a ceremony at Bath Abbey before hosting an elegant reception at Kin House. The guest list featured close friends of the Ramsay family, including the David Beckham family, underlining the high-profile nature of the event.
Noticeably absent, however, were Adam’s parents, Caroline Peaty and Mark Peaty, along with his brothers James Peaty and Richard Peaty. The absence followed a long-running family dispute, with only Adam’s sister Bethany Peaty attending the wedding, where she also served as a bridesmaid.
At the reception, Gordon Ramsay took to the microphone to celebrate the newlyweds, singling out his daughter’s bridal look and the couple’s future together. However, reports claim his speech took a sharper turn when he appeared to allude to the absence of Adam’s family, remarking: “Shame you don’t have the same.”
When it was his turn to speak, Adam Peaty steered clear of the ongoing family dispute and chose a more reflective tone. Rather than revisiting personal tensions, he expressed heartfelt appreciation for those who supported him throughout his career, paying particular tribute to his coach Mel Marshall, whom he credited with keeping him grounded and motivated during the most challenging moments of his journey.
Outside the celebrations, emotions reportedly ran high. Adam’s aunt Louise Peaty and great-aunt Janet Peaty were among relatives said to be deeply upset by the family’s exclusion, while James Peaty briefly posted—and then deleted—a symbolic image outside the wedding venue on the day itself.
The wedding marked a defining moment not only for the newlyweds, but also for a family dynamic that remains unresolved, with representatives for both Adam and Gordon declining to comment further.
