Deposition Drama Erupts
Lil Wayne is back in the headlines after a deposition meant to address an ongoing assault lawsuit erupted into a confrontation that derailed the proceeding before it could even begin.
According to new court filings from former personal assistant Andrew Williams, the rapper arrived for a June 18 deposition visibly irritated, sparking a tense exchange with Williams’ attorney Omar Taylor. The encounter escalated so quickly that Wayne allegedly walked out within minutes, prompting Williams to request financial sanctions over what his legal team called obstructive behavior.
Taylor described the rapper as agitated and confrontational, claiming Wayne hurled profanity and intimidation his way. In the filing, Taylor recounts the moment the exchange peaked, including Wayne allegedly shouting, “Do you know who I am?” — a line the attorney argued underscored the rapper’s aggressive posture.
Wayne, however, responded in his own filing this week with a very different version of events. His legal team accused Taylor of provoking the altercation, claiming the attorney stared him down, taunted him, and created a hostile environment that made the deposition unsafe. They requested that Taylor be barred from physically attending any future sessions, insisting he participate only remotely.
The underlying lawsuit, filed in 2022, stems from an alleged incident aboard a private plane in which Williams claims Wayne struck him during a dispute with the pilot. Williams says he suffered physical and emotional harm, while Wayne maintains he acted in self-defense and has asked the court to dismiss the case.
A judge has not yet ruled on Wayne’s request for protections at the next deposition, leaving both the legal showdown — and tensions between the two sides — very much unresolved.
