Melissa’s Snowy Surprise
Melissa McCarthy sparked a wave of astonishment during her sixth turn as host of Saturday Night Live, debuting a noticeably slimmer silhouette while commanding the stage in a sleek black velvet jumpsuit adorned with jeweled shoulders. Her monologue quickly veered into chaos when her request for some “Christmas magic” triggered a blizzard of fake snow that buried her mid-sentence — prompting her to shout the now-instantly-memorable line, “This is SNL, don’t be stingy with the snow!”
Online, viewers marveled at both her physical transformation and her comedic ease, noting that the Bridesmaids star seemed fully in her element as she battled the avalanche gag and continued the monologue unfazed.
McCarthy’s appearance arrives months after renewed public attention to her weight, which spiked when Barbra Streisand asked on Instagram whether the actor was using Ozempic. McCarthy later brushed off the moment with characteristic good humor, framing it as an unexpected compliment and insisting she held no ill will. Streisand followed with her own clarification, saying she simply thought McCarthy looked terrific.
The actor has long taken a relaxed approach to conversations about her body. Years before social media fixation intensified, she told CBS Mornings she had stopped obsessing over weight and found the shift freeing.
McCarthy’s lively episode kicks off the final stretch of SNL’s 2025 lineup. Josh O’Connor will host on 13 December with Lily Allen as musical guest, while Ariana Grande closes out the year on 20 December alongside Cher, who returns to the SNL stage for the first time since 1987.
