Cosby Son’s Divorce Spiral
Weeks after his highly publicized arrest, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City personality Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., is now facing another major life shift: his wife, Alexiana Arian Smokoff, has filed for divorce.
According to filings made in Salt Lake County District Court on November 24, Smokoff requested formal separation along with strict behavioral boundaries for both parties. Court documents obtained by People outline a list of barred actions — from harassment to interfering with utilities or services — underscoring the tense circumstances surrounding the dissolution of the marriage.
The divorce news lands on the heels of Robert Jr.’s early-November arrest, where the 22-year-old was charged with violating a pretrial protective order. The incident amplified an already growing list of allegations, including property damage, assault on law enforcement, and criminal trespassing. He remains in custody at the Salt Lake County Jail.
His attorney addressed the situation ahead of a scheduled court appearance, noting that Robert Jr. struggled to accept the end of his relationship. “Robert was slow to recognize that his marriage was over. He continued to make contact with his ex-wife in an effort to reconcile.”
This is not the first time authorities have intervened. In September, police responded to a domestic violence call involving an attempted break-in at his father-in-law’s home, leading to additional charges and a court-order violation.
Viewers of RHOSLC have watched Mary Cosby grapple with her son’s ongoing personal battles, including substance-abuse issues. She has spoken openly about being blindsided by his struggles and wrestling with the instinct to blame herself. Despite acknowledging that he recently “had a little bit of a setback,” Mary has expressed hope that he is finding stability and moving in a healthier direction.
