Kevin Spacey’s Nomad Life
Kevin Spacey says his life has been pared down to a suitcase and a constant search for temporary places to stay, seven years after allegations abruptly derailed his career. In a new interview, the Oscar-winning actor described moving between short-term rentals while taking whatever work is available, noting, “I literally have no home.”
Spacey’s professional downfall began in 2017 when actor Anthony Rapp accused him of s**** misconduct, triggering a wave of additional claims from others in the industry. The fallout was swift: Netflix severed ties, his Gore Vidal biopic was abandoned, and his role in All the Money in the World was famously reshot with Christopher Plummer.
The former House of Cards star says the financial burden of the past several years has been severe, leaving him without a permanent residence and relying on storage units to hold what remains of his belongings. He likened his current reality to his early days as a young actor — constantly on the move, chasing the next opportunity rather than choosing it.
Although the accusations led to significant professional and personal upheaval, Spacey was found not liable in Rapp’s 2022 civil case and was acquitted of s**** assault charges in a London criminal trial the following year. Whether these legal outcomes will translate into a meaningful Hollywood comeback remains uncertain, but Spacey suggests he is working toward a future where he can rebuild, piece by piece.
