Pete’s Wild SNL Comeback
Pete Davidson made a surprise return to Saturday Night Live, stepping back into Studio 8H for the first time in two years. The comedian, who has built a career on self-deprecating wit and unpredictable charm, used his “Weekend Update” cameo to mix personal revelations with business banter, reminding fans why his chaotic humor still lands perfectly in the SNL world.
Dressed casually in a gray graphic T-shirt and a leather bomber jacket, Davidson joined Colin Jost and Michael Che at the anchor desk and immediately poked fun at their ongoing Staten Island Ferry investment. The pair bought the decommissioned vessel in 2022 with hopes of turning it into a floating entertainment space — but Davidson didn’t hold back on revealing how rough the waters have become. “In case you’re wondering why I had to do a show in Saudi Arabia, we’re losing millions on this ferry,” he quipped, earning knowing laughs from the audience.
In between jokes about Jost’s clean-cut image and his own string of unpredictable gigs, Davidson also confirmed a major life update: he and model Elsie Hewitt are expecting their first child. He teased that fatherhood might be the one role that finally forces him to grow up — or at least pretend to. The mix of heartfelt honesty and absurd humor made the moment feel quintessentially Pete.
Before signing off, he credited SNL boss Lorne Michaels for inspiring his determination and joked that he and Jost had renamed their ship “The Titanic II.” Ending with his trademark smirk, Davidson declared, “Pete’s back, baby,” as the crowd roared, sealing his return with the kind of irreverent energy that made him a fan favorite in the first place.
Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
