Danielle Fishel’s Dance Struggle
Danielle Fishel is taking her Dancing With the Stars journey to a deeper place this week, revealing the emotional struggle behind her Rock Roll Hall of Fame Night performance.
On her Danielle With the Stars podcast, the Boy Meets World favorite shared that rehearsing for her “Dream On” routine has become more than choreography — it’s become a mirror reflecting years of pressure and perfectionism. The 44-year-old actress explained that the piece explores what it means to live under endless scrutiny as a woman in the spotlight. “There’s no winning,” she admitted. “And having been in the public eye and on TV since I was 10 years old, I have been under a microscope, and my choices have been scrutinized.”
Fishel confessed that preparing for the performance has stirred “negative self-talk” and resurfaced old insecurities, from body image struggles to fears of not measuring up. Still, she’s learning to see vulnerability as a strength. With guidance from her professional partner, Pasha Pashkov, and guest mentor Louis van Amstel, she’s focusing on storytelling through movement rather than chasing technical perfection. Van Amstel praised her authenticity, reminding her that true artistry often comes from discomfort and courage.
Beyond the individual challenge, Fishel is captaining “Team Chicago” in this week’s group dance. She admitted feeling like the underdog among seasoned competitors but said the process has reignited her love for collaboration and performance. As she prepares to step onto the ballroom floor, Fishel hopes her routine resonates with anyone who has ever felt judged or misunderstood.
Her story this season isn’t just about dance — it’s about reclaiming confidence, embracing flaws, and proving that growth often happens in the moments when the spotlight feels heaviest.
Dancing With the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Disney+ and ABC, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
