“I’m at the point in my life where I’m like, ‘The clock is ticking,’” Stiller tells LA Times. “Sixty sounds old. It’s hard to get around it.”
Despite stepping back from directing Severance, Stiller remains involved in the show’s creative direction, working closely with showrunner Dan Erickson and the writing team. His absence from the director’s chair isn’t an exit from the Severance universe, just a shift in priorities.
Looking ahead, Ben Stiller’s upcoming projects signal a major shift in his career direction. “These things take time to come together,” he shares, offering insight into how his evolving perspective shapes his work. “As you get older, you realize time is limited.”
With Severance Season 3 still in development, its creators are aiming to avoid the lengthy hiatus that plagued the previous seasons. Showrunner Dan Erickson is determined to complete the series before turning 70, especially after setbacks caused by the writer’s strike and the pandemic.
