Mayfield’s Legendary Beer Shotgun

Lake Tahoe hosted its biggest celebrity golf event of the year this week, the American Century Championship, where athletes from all sports trade their usual gear for golf clubs — and some truly unforgettable moments.

While the spotlight shone on NHL star Joe Pavelski, who clinched the win with a jaw-dropping walk-off eagle, another name stole headlines for reasons outside the course. Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield proved once again that he's just as iconic off the field, this time with an unforgettable beer shotgun moment.

Teaming up with NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce, Mayfield’s squad turned the event into a mix of golf, chaos, and good old-fashioned fun. The Kelce brothers kicked things off with a side bet: every three-putt meant one shotgun beer. But things really took a turn when Mayfield decided to up the ante, spitting foam mid-chug, but laughing it off with his signature swagger.

"I guess when you’re a QB, you learn how to handle pressure," Mayfield said with a grin after winning a shotgun challenge near the 17th tee.

Mayfield’s antics didn’t just make him a fan favorite; they earned him the unofficial title of ML (Most Legendary) QB in a beer contest and that’s not even his first rodeo. Back in 2019, he went viral for chugging a beer at a Cleveland Guardians game, and let’s not forget some of his classic college moments.

While Mayfield didn't crack the top 10 in the tournament — finishing outside the top 20 — his presence was undeniable. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce finished 68th, and his brother Jason landed in 83rd. But who’s counting scores when you’ve got moments like these?
