Julian McMahon Praised Daughter Madison’s Career Milestone Months Before His Death at Age 56

A Dad’s Last Words

Just a few months before his untimely death at 56, Julian McMahon was doing what he seemed to love most — being a proud dad. When his 25-year-old daughter, Madison, shared on Instagram that she had just taught her first yoga class, Julian was the first to comment. “Your awesome!!!!!” he wrote, beaming with pride. Madison even playfully corrected his grammar, replying, “No YOU’RE awesome.” It was a light, heartfelt exchange between father and daughter — and now, a bittersweet memory frozen in time.

McMahon, best known for his roles in Charmed, Nip/Tuck, and Marvel’s Runaways, died earlier this month following a private battle with cancer. His wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement released on July 4, writing, “Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”

Julian married Kelly in 2014, years after high-profile marriages to singer Dannii Minogue and actress Brooke Burns, with whom he shared Madison. Burns paid quiet tribute to Julian the day after news of his death went public, posting a throwback photo of him with their daughter and captioning it simply: “Rest in Peace.”

Condolences and tributes from friends, co-stars, and fans came pouring in. One of the most emotional came from Alyssa Milano, Julian’s longtime Charmed co-star. She called him “magic” and remembered the way he made every room brighter — not just because he was a star, but because he genuinely cared about the people around him.

Throughout his career, Julian played everything from charming villains to complex antiheroes, but off-screen, those who knew him describe a man who was warm, deeply loyal, and never too busy to show up for the people he loved. Whether it was supporting his daughter’s first steps in a new passion or checking in on an old friend, he left behind a trail of kindness just as lasting as his on-screen legacy.

In the end, it wasn’t just his work that defined him — it was moments like a proud Instagram comment, a quiet post from an ex, a memory shared by a co-star. Those little things say everything.
