Winery War Explodes

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s long-running legal feud over their former French winery just took another dramatic turn — and it might be heading to a full-blown courtroom showdown.

According to court docs filed on June 20, Pitt expects the jury trial over Château Miraval — the estate they bought together in 2008 — to last at least 15 days. Jolie agrees it’ll drag on for over two weeks.

The legal mess, which Pitt recently called “complex,” revolves around ownership, broken promises, and a surprise sale to a Russian billionaire’s company.

Pitt sued Jolie back in 2022, claiming she blindsided him by selling her share of Miraval — alued in the tens of millions — without his consent. He says they had a deal: neither could sell without the other’s okay. Jolie insists no such agreement existed.

Their post-divorce business talks fell apart in 2021. At the time, Jolie emailed Pitt to explain why she wanted out. In her words:

“I’ve been hurt by decisions that have been made that show no interest in sharing the business or changing it fundamentally into something that would be healthier for our children.”

Pitt offered to buy her out for over $55 million, but the deal imploded when he added an NDA. Jolie claimed it was an attempt to silence her; Pitt's team called that a "pretext."

Since then, things have only escalated. Pitt now accuses Jolie’s former company, Nouvel (now owned by Shefler’s Stoli Group), of trying to launch a hostile takeover. Meanwhile, Nouvel hit Pitt with a $250 million countersuit, claiming he misused assets for vanity projects — allegations he flatly denies.

With related lawsuits in Europe still in motion and a U.S. jury trial looming, Pitt made it clear in his latest court filing: he’s gunning to take back full control of Miraval.

Jolie hasn’t responded yet—but the war over wine is far from over.
