Double Concert Blow
Shakira’s North American tour has hit another unexpected roadblock. Just a day after canceling her Boston concert, the Colombian superstar has also called off her scheduled performance in Washington, D.C., originally set for May 31.
The D.C. show, which was part of the “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” and served as WorldPride DC 2025’s Welcome Concert, was canceled due to logistical fallout from the Boston cancellation. According to a statement from Nationals Park released on May 30, the full tour setup “cannot be transported to Washington, D.C. in time” for the performance.
“Despite every effort to make it happen, it is not possible to move forward as planned,” the venue noted.
Fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster or nationals.com will receive automatic refunds. Those who bought tickets through third-party vendors should contact their point of sale directly for assistance.
The disruption stems from a serious infrastructure issue at Fenway Park, where Shakira was scheduled to perform on May 30. Live Nation confirmed that routine safety checks uncovered structural problems at the venue, prompting the cancellation of not only Shakira’s show but also upcoming performances by Jason Aldean and Brooks Dunn. The promoter emphasized that no one was harmed and that safety remained the top priority.
In a personal message to fans, Shakira expressed her heartbreak over the sudden change in plans. “I am sad and heartbroken that I will not be able to be in Washington, D.C. with you tomorrow,” she said in a statement. “I hope that I can come back to D.C., as soon as I am able.”
Shakira is next set to perform in Atlanta on June 2, as her North American tour continues following its kickoff on May 13. The tour began earlier this year in South America and has been billed as her most ambitious to date, featuring 13 costume changes, original music segments, new choreography, and a touring team of 145 people.
