Hollywood Power Couple Ends
Deborra-Lee Furness has officially initiated divorce proceedings against Hugh Jackman, formally bringing closure to their decades-long relationship. The divorce petition was filed in New York on May 23, according to court records. Reports indicate the process is uncontested and only requires a final judicial signature to be finalized.
The filing marks the conclusion of what was once considered one of Hollywood’s most enduring unions. Jackman, now 56, first met Furness, 69, on the set of the Australian drama Correlli in 1995. The couple tied the knot the following year and went on to adopt two children, Oscar and Ava. Over the years, their marriage became a symbol of resilience and loyalty in an industry often defined by short-lived romances.
Their relationship drew early media attention due to the 13-year age gap, but they quickly became known more for their loyalty than controversy. That reputation made their 2023 announcement of separation especially surprising. In a joint statement shared at the time, the couple explained they were entering a new phase of life with care and mutual respect.
“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” the couple said.
Since then, speculation has swirled around Jackman’s evolving relationship with Broadway actress Sutton Foster. The pair starred together in the revival of The Music Man from late 2021 to early 2023. Reports later emerged alleging that their connection had grown beyond the stage, possibly while both were still married.
Foster filed for divorce from screenwriter Ted Griffin in October 2024, ending their ten-year marriage. Jackman and Foster were seen publicly as a couple for the first time in January 2025, photographed holding hands after a dinner outing in Santa Monica.
Neither party has addressed the nature or timing of their relationship, and representatives for Jackman have not responded to requests for comment.
While the divorce between Jackman and Furness appears amicable and free of legal dispute, its quiet finalization marks the end of a chapter that once defined stability in celebrity partnerships. Now, public focus shifts to what’s next — for both of them.
