Kathy Hilton Stands by Mauricio Umansky Amid Kyle Richards Split

Kathy Hilton is opening up about her relationship with her estranged brother-in-law, Mauricio Umansky, following his separation from Kyle Richards.

Despite the family rift, Kathy, 65, emphasized that she still cares about Mauricio, acknowledging his role as a father and stepfather to her nieces.

“I still care about him. He’s my nieces’ father. He’s been wonderful with Farrah,” Kathy shared on the RHOBH After Show on Tuesday, March 4.

Kyle, 56, and Mauricio, 54, announced their separation in July 2023 after nearly three decades of marriage. While the split has been a significant shift for the family, Kathy admitted she has checked in on Mauricio to offer support.

“It’s sad,” she reflected, revealing that she reached out to him on his wedding anniversary while he was away on a trip. “I just wanted him to know that no matter what, I care and we’re here.”

Meanwhile, Kyle has been navigating the emotional toll of their breakup, and according to her, Kathy has found it particularly difficult to process.

“Kathy has been very supportive of me, but she’s also been oddly emotional about it,” Kyle revealed. “She’s broken down crying to me about my separation many times.”

The latest episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills also captured Kyle making a symbolic move — removing “wife” from her Instagram bio after photos surfaced of Mauricio kissing another woman at Mykonos airport.

“Why am I still going to have that on there after seeing that? I feel stupid to have that on there,” she admitted to Kathy, adding that the leaked images gave her the final push to let go.

As Kyle continues to redefine her identity post-split, it’s clear that the changes are affecting her entire family in unexpected ways.
