United Airlines (UAIR) has launched charter flights in which the company delivers COVID-19 vaccine to special warehouses located around the world. This is in order to ensure that the vaccine is used worldwide as soon as possible. The vaccine was developed by Pfizer (PFZ) as well as the German company BioNTech (BNT). This was reported to The Wall Street Journal.

Previously, Pfizer representatives said they were ready to start supplying the vaccine to consumers immediately after receiving approval for its use. The developers have applied to the FDA, the US medicines market regulator, for emergency (accelerated) registration due to the need to fight the pandemic. Application of the vaccine in other countries accordingly requires approval from local regulatory authorities.

Special flights are one of the initial links in the global supply chain. "Pfizer lays the groundwork for rapid progress if approved by the Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory bodies around the world", says the publication. Pfizer also has refrigerated warehouses in its own factories that produce medicines. In addition, the Pfizer vaccine requires special storage conditions at -75 degrees Celsius. This is why the company has taken care of logistics the cold chain must be flawless from the moment the vaccine is bottled, right up to special boxes where the vaccine will be delivered to vaccination centres.
